We don’t normally manage 2 blogs in a week but really wanted to share the uplifting morning. I attended an training course finale in Dunstable. The Princes Trust have delivered a 2 week ‘Get Into Hospitality’ course and then arranged 2 weeks of work placement. I had the honour of presenting certificates to a young man called Craig. He had completed the course, enjoyed his work experience and then was offered a job by Tragus – who own Cafe Rouge and Strada – as a Chef in one of the Milton Keynes restaurants – starting later today. It was great to see a young person succeed and begin to reach his potential.
I then had the pleasure of listening to Rebecca about her work experience in a Luton Hotel which is entering a second week now and Scott who spent time in the kitchens at Luton Hoo Hotel and ‘portering’. Scott was immediately put to work preparing afternoon teas and shared with us the need to keep the horseradish under control when making a beef sandwich! He is shortly to begin casual work portering until a permanent role is available and is already a great advocate for the Princes Trust and his new employer.
It was wonderful to see young people inspired to take hold of opportunities and get their lives on track and I feel absolutely buoyed up by my small role in this and the chance to meet them on their journey. An inspiring day!
